From my Oreo cookie I attempted to create a Ying-Yang to symbolize "balance" in The Joy Luck Club. The book introduces the symbol “Yin /Yang”. According to Chinese myth, ‘Yin’ represents female which is related to darkness and passivity (acceptance) and is compared to the moon, winter and earth. On the other hand, ‘Yang’ is the bright part of the symbol which represents male. It is related to brightness and activeness and is compared to the sun, summer and heaven.

This visual was created by one of my peers. It symbolizes a famous quote from the novel The Great Gatsby.
